LOUISVILLE, KY – The Williamsburg High School Boys Track & Field team delivered an outstanding performance at the KHSAA Class A Indoor Track & Field State Championship held at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. The team finished in 3rd place overall, marking a historic achievement as the highest team finish for any boys or girls track & field team in indoor or outdoor competition since the 1973 Boys State Championship team.
Leading the way for the boys was Nathan Goodin, who showcased his exceptional athleticism by winning state titles in both the Long Jump and High Jump. Goodin soared to a remarkable 20-10 in the Long Jump and cleared 6'4 in the High Jump, solidifying his reputation as one of the top competitors in the state.
Lane Jeffries also shone brightly, claiming the state title in the Triple Jump with an impressive jump of 42-9.25. Jeffries' skill and determination were key factors in the team's overall success, earning vital points for Williamsburg.
Zyler Housekeeper contributed to the team's strong showing by finishing as the runner-up in the Pole Vault, clearing 11'6. Meanwhile, Peyton Hamilton secured a 5th place finish in the 55m Hurdles, clocking in at 8.19, highlighting his speed and agility on the track.
The boys' team further demonstrated their prowess with a commendable performance in the 4 x 400 Meter Relay, finishing 4th place with a time of 3:42. This relay showcased the strength of teamwork and dedication of Peyton Hamilton, Eli Meadors, Lane Jeffries, and Nathan Goodin.
The Williamsburg High School girls' team also had many strong performances at the championships, finishing in 27th place overall. Tatum Croley stood out with a notable 6th place finish in the 3200 Meter Run, completing the race with a time of 12:10. Her effort exemplified the talent and hard work present within the girls' team.
The achievements of both teams at the KHSAA Class A Indoor Track & Field State Championship reflect the spirit of “Jacket Pride.” The athletes have displayed not only their individual talents but also a commitment to supporting one another, embodying the true essence of teamwork.
